Official Parent Handbook & Operating Guidelines
San Mateo Campus & Redwood City Campus (Roots N' Wings)
1. Welcome & Educational Philosophy
Welcome to Kubo Montessori! With over 20 years of dedicated history in early childhood education across the San Francisco Bay Area, our mission is to provide nurturing, authentic Montessori environments that empower children to reach their full potential.
Rooted in the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori, we foster independence, organization, concentration, self-discipline, and a lifelong love of learning. We design our classrooms to be child-centered spaces where every child feels loved, respected, and free to explore at their own developmental pace.

4. Potty Training Policy
Potty training is NOT a requirement for enrollment at either our San Mateo or Redwood City campus.
We support families during this developmental transition. Our credentialed teachers work closely with parents to establish a consistent, gentle routine that encourages independence. We assist with diaper changes, recognize readiness signals, and guide children in using toilets without pressure or shame.
5. Meal & Nutrition Program
Proper nutrition is vital for children's cognitive and physical growth. Our program emphasizes organic, wholesome, and delicious meals:
- Freshly Cooked Hot Lunch (San Mateo): For our San Mateo campus, our in-house cook prepares and serves fresh, healthy, organic hot meals every day.
- Organic Snacks (Both Locations): We provide healthy, organic snacks during morning and afternoon intervals.
- Practical Life Kitchen Skills: Children actively participate in table setting, pouring, food preparation, and baking activities as part of the Montessori curriculum.
6. Enrollment & Communications
Admissions at Kubo Montessori are facilitated online to keep processing simple:
- Learning Tour: Parents must schedule a tour using our online Calendly link to visit the campus and understand our classrooms.
- Brightwheel Application: Following the tour, families receive a registration link via Brightwheel. Enrollment contracts, emergency contacts, licensing forms, and tuition payments are all managed directly through the Brightwheel app.
- Daily Updates: Teachers communicate check-ins, pictures, and notes daily through the Brightwheel app to keep you connected to your child's day.
